My Baby Pro-Soya is a soy protein isolate-based, lactose-free Food for Special Medical Purposes (FSMP) for use from birth to 5 years. Exclusive breastfeeding remains the WHO gold standard; however, cow's milk protein allergy (CMPA), congenital lactase deficiency, severe secondary lactose intolerance after gastroenteritis, and dietary or religious restrictions can require a nutritionally complete alternative under medical supervision.
It uses purified, non-GMO soy protein isolate fortified with L-methionine, L-carnitine and taurine (reported PDCAAS 1.0), with 0% lactose, HMO 2'-FL and the probiotic L. reuteri DSM 17938.
Clinical focus: CMPA, lactose intolerance, galactosemia and vegan/religious dietary requirements — under medical supervision.
Bioavailability & synbiotic support
Modern enzymatic processing and high-temperature short-time (HTST) heat treatment deactivate heat-labile anti-nutritional factors, and fortification offsets phytate-related mineral binding to maintain zinc, calcium and iron. 2'-FL with GOS and FOS and the live probiotic L. reuteri DSM 17938 form a synbiotic matrix that promotes beneficial Bifidobacteria.
International guidelines
Information for healthcare professionals.
- AAP: accepts soy formula for term infants with galactosemia, hereditary lactase deficiency, or where a vegetarian diet is required. For CMPA, extensively hydrolysed or amino-acid formulas are generally preferred; soy may be considered in infants over 6 months.
- ESPGHAN: advises against soy formula in the first 6 months of life because of isoflavone content; accepts use after 6 months for cow's-milk-protein intolerance or religious/vegan diets.
- National (Bangladesh): compliance with the Breast-milk Substitutes Act, IPHN registration, BSTI standardisation (BDS CAC 72) and Halal certification.
Selection should follow the infant's age, diagnosis and current guideline recommendations.
